These images, (Ektachrome slides) taken by my mother, when she was the Voice of Kenya journalist assigned to accompany Daniel Arap Moi's delegation on the inaugural Swiss Air flight Nairobi- Lausanne-Nairobi in 1968. The broadcast interview she did with Moi with its attendant images evoked of 'Kenya as the Switzerland of Africa' speak volumes and present a rich resource of research. For now though, these images really just should be left to speak for themselves. And my Mum, who really has never been the best photographer, deserves full credit here for something quite historically unique and utterly beautiful.
The history since bears serious scrutiny and there are real trailblazers there that I honour here. More anon....
