"Life is wonderful. And I tend to see all of the positive things about it and appreciate it. And the photograph is a form of appreciating life. And wanting to see it again because it happens too quickly in that moment." - Harold Fernstein
I couldn't put it better myself. It is also explains why I can't stop photographing children, for isn't in them that the poignancy of the passing moment is at its most potent.
The great Curzon film blog listed Three reasons to watch Last Stop Coney Island Harold Feinstein. To add to that, my personal reasons are the following:
- To see the glorious link of intimacy between his street photography and nudes
- To gain deep insight into the profound nature of fame for a photographer and the significant effects on his life and psyche
- To reflect on the role of these artists to shape and retain historical sense of national identity.
