Zanzibar's legendary Taarab singer smokes a cigarette whilst wearing my sunglasses during an interview with Mambo magazine.
Fatuma binti Baraka (c.1910s – 17 April 2013), also known as Bi Kidude, was a Zanzibari-born Tanzanian Taarab singer, considered the undisputed queen of Taarab and Unyago music. Bi Kidude was born in the village of Mfagimaringo, the daughter of a coconut seller in colonial Zanzibar. Her exact date of birth is unknown, much of her life story having been uncorroborated, with her almost mythical status now deepened by her death.
